Why pharmacy needs a neutral marketplace

Apr 22, 2026 · Refley Editorial

For decades, the way patients get prescriptions has been shaped by whichever chain is closest to home. Choice has been an illusion. Pharmacies, especially independents, have absorbed margin pressure, software fatigue, and ever-thinner staffing — while patients quietly wait in lines that shouldn't exist in 2026.

Refley was founded on a simple premise: pharmacies should compete on what matters — care, speed, and price — and patients should be able to see all of it in one place. That's what a neutral marketplace does.

A neutral marketplace doesn't own the pharmacy. It doesn't fill the prescription. It doesn't decide who wins. It surfaces information that already exists — stock, ETA, price, reviews — and lets the best provider for each patient rise to the top of the screen.

The result is something rarer than it should be in healthcare: a system that actually serves the person at the center of it. We think that's worth building.
